Hatchet 3 is the 2013 horror film of the Hatchet series. It chronicles the ongoing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. The film stars Kane Hodder as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn as Deputy Winslow, and Rileah Vanderbilt in the role of Misty.
The main strength of the movie lies in its practical special effects. In contrast to many contemporary horror films which rely heavily on CG effects, Hatchet 3 features mostly practical makeup effect and sets--resulting in some truly horrific scenes throughout the movie.
Kane Hodder stands out as an intimidating villain. The cast provides a solid performance. The dialogue feels like a 1980s slasher movie. It is (click now to see weblog) witty and funny enough. There are moments of humor throughout the movie which add humour to the bloody action.
The budget for the film was restricted to just $1 million. This means that many locations in the movie are repeated from previous films. One boat house is used twice and most of the scenes feel like they're like a rerun of previous films. It can seem like it's all too familiar especially for people who've already seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2
Overall, Hatchet 3 was an enjoyable series. I enjoyed the violent thrills it provided and the entertaining performances of the actors.
